Fuyu Persimmons, Organic and Biodynamic } OUT OF SEASON
FRESH FUYU PERSIMMONS, ORGANIC AND BIODYNAMIC
5- and 10-pound boxes
In Season: Mid-September through November
We planted Fuyu Persimmons at Beck Grove for a number of reasons: hardiness, resistance to disease and pests, sturdiness (they’re part of the ebony tree family) and adaptability to a wide range of climates. They are deciduous trees, grow swiftly and have a strong root system, making them ideal for helping to recover habitat.
Fuyus are a wonderful fruit, about the size and shape of a medium tomato. They are somewhat squat, ranging in color from a deep reddish orange to a vivid golden orange hue, with a flower-like top or stem called a calyx.
The taste of a ripe persimmon is hard to describe — because a persimmon tastes like a persimmon and nothing else! The persimmon has a unique sweetness that is very delicate and luscious.
We defer to the experts at the University of California Davis when we recommend storing all of our fruit at room temperature (around 70 degrees fahrenheit) because refrigerator temperatures (usually 38-42 degrees) can damage them and/or prevent them from ripening to their best flavor and texture. Place produce in an open bowl or on a countertop out of direct sunlight to prevent produce from becoming too warm. Once cut or prepared, all fruits should be refrigerated promptly.
We hand pick to order and ship only on Mondays and Tuesdays to maintain optimal freshness. We ship Fedex ground or home delivery. Expedited shipping is available. A street address is required.
